Palpitations and dizzy spells
Heart palpitations are an awareness of your heartbeat. They can range from often unnoticed skipped beats or accelerated heart rate to very noticeable changes accompanied by dizziness or difficulty breathing. Heart palpitations may or may not be associated with an abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia). Palpitations are common and occur in most individuals with healthy hearts. Palpitations without underlying heart disease are generally considered benign and generally no treatment is necessary. In some cases heart palpitations may be a symptom of a more serious heart condition such as an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia),that may require treatment. If you are experiencing palpitations on a regular basis, getting associated symptoms such as dizziness, light headedness, racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, chest pain etc, you should seek medical advice. |
